Vanessa Hudgens, the heroine of Disney's "High School Musical," will start in another mega-fan favorite, Jonathan Larson's "Rent," which will run Aug. 6-8 at the Hollywood Bowl.
Hudgens will play Mimi, the HIV-positive exotic dancer in the award-winning '90s rock riff on
Puccini's "La Boheme."
No other casting has been announced for the fully staged show, which will mark the musical directing debut of actor Neil Patrick Harris, himself a star of "Rent's" 1997 L.A. production and national tour.
Hudgens, 21, became a pop idol as sweet and brainy Gabriella Montez -- the love interest of Zac Efron's jock Troy Bolton -- in the 2006 Disney Channel movie "High School Musical" and its two sequels. She has recorded a pair of albums and pursued a post-"HSM" film career that includes the 2009 "Bandslam" and the upcoming "Beastly"-- a modern take on "Beauty and the Beast" --and the action flick "Sucker Punch."
Vanessa Hudgens, die Heldin aus Disneys "High School Musical" will in einer anderen mega-fan Favoriten Rolle, in Jonathan Larsons "Rent", welches am 6.-8. August an der "Hollywood Bowl" starten wird. Hudgens wird Mimi spielen, die HIV-positive exotische Tänzerin, die in den '90 einen Award gewonnen hat.
Kein anderes Casting wurde angekündigt für die volle Bühnen Show, welche unter der Anleitung von Schauspieler Neil Patrick Harris geprägt wird, der selber Star bei "Rent's" in L.A 1997 war und bei der Produktion und der nationalen Tour dabei war.
Hudgens, 21, wurde zum Pop-Idol als süße und schlaue Gabriella Montez -- der Anteil der Liebe zu Zac Efron's Rolle Troy Bolton -- in Film von Disney Channel "High School Musical" und den zwei folgenden gefördert. Sie nahm bereits ein paar Alben auf und verfolgte ihre Karriere nach "HSM" mit dem Film "Bandslam" aus dem Jahr 2009 und dem bald erscheinenden Film "Beastly" -- eine moderne Version von "Die Schöne und das Biest" -- und dem Action Teil "Sucker Punch."
